FamiLee News 2005
Dearest Brothers & Sisters in Christ,Christmas will arrive in a week’s time and then we will say to ourselves countless times that 2005 has come and gone in a blink of an eye. We just came back from a cell meeting and had discussed how Christmas should be more ‘evangelistic’ rather than ‘commercialistic’. We pray that along with our church’s cell ministry, we will grow to be evangelistic the whole year round.
First, updates on everybody. Hon Leong just turned 50 this week! Now that he is half a century old, he feels the urgency to seek His face and to know Him in a deeper way. He doesn’t travel much nowadays but work still comes in, by His abundant grace. Joy will stay in MOE till March 2006 thereafter, she will return to school. Healthwise, God has been great. This year she got to meet her god-daughter, Isobel Joy Hollis
for the first time when she and her family came by Singapore enroute to Brunei. Isobel is the daughter of a dear expat teacher friend.Daniel, 23 spent two months of his summer hols in China with a mission group of international students teaching English to the Chinese kids in summer camps. Already the mission group has asked him to do another round next summer in Beijing. He will need permission from A*STAR, his scholarship sponsor first as they expect him to return to Singapore to work a year before commencing his postgrad studies, either in the US or UK. He has been back in the UK for a term already and will graduate in June next year. We hope to go over as a family for his convocation and to re-visit Scotland after nearly 24 years. Andrew, 20 will be joining us as he would have finished with his national service by May. He will then do mechanical engineering in a local university in July. Upon Alan Tan's invitation, he's going over to Melbourne to visit along with Stacey's niece and Beng Hong's daughter, Hui En. They'll be having the excitement of ushering the new year in mid-air! Mark, 18 would by then be just starting his 3rd year at Ngee Ann Polytechnic. He has grown tired of accounting but will persist with it before he considers other options. He seems very keen on something along the lines of sports science, being very keen on body-building now he is...Do pray for him that he will grow spiritually and seek God’s will for his life.
We continue to work towards the cell church vision especially now with a change in leadership. Our outgoing pastor has urged us to seek revival from within the cell, and not wait for big churchwide revivals that don’t sustain. We covet your prayers for our family and cell to be more earnest and watchful in our prayer life.
Thank you for your love, as we all obey Him to "love one another as (He) has loved us" so that by this, the world will know that we are His disciples. Have a blessed Christmas and an abundant 2006!

Hello Joy,
Very nice to read about the goings-on of your familee in 2005. I'm a little paranoid about public blogs - I created 2 entries and stopped, LOL. Anyhoo, a merry Christmas to you & your loved ones. Our newsletter will be somewhat late, :-P, but it will be forthcoming. - brenda K-S
